Grandmother beats TJ Watt, other Steelers at pickleball
PITTSBURGH (BVM) — A recreational sport that originated in Washington is quickly gaining popularity all over the country. That recreational sport is pickleball.
In fact, it’s gaining so much popularity that it has pro athletes giving it a try. Some of the Milwaukee Bucks gave it a try on June 13.

But the Milwaukee Bucks aren’t the only professional athletes to take to the pickleball courts. On June 12, three Pittsburgh Steelers – TJ Watt, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and Alex Highsmith – decided to give pickleball a try.
Of course, they didn’t know they would run into Meg Burkardt. Burkardt has only been playing for a couple of years, but she knew these three men were new to the game.
However, it took a while for Burkardt to recognize who she was playing with. That was until others there started to notice who she was playing with. It clicked for Burkardt that these three might be important. She quickly asked for a photo with them. And shortly after, her daughter tweeted the photo that went viral.

With the attention now being brought to pickleball, hopefully, more people will get to enjoy this sport. One could see Burkardt and some of the Steelers did.
