Cornwall youth seeing years of karate experience pay off

CORNWALL, Ontario. — Mohammad used to live in Cornwall, but at the beginning of the pandemic his family moved to Nova Scotia. He started karate in 2018 and transitioned to online classes in 2019 along with all Wattie Karate students. Now all local students have returned to the dojo, and Mohammad continues to train online as he works towards higher rank. Taking classes online isn’t easy, but he has stayed determined. In May, 2022 Mohammad and his family made the trip back to Cornwall for a visit, where he would take a belt exam. Mohammad earned his Blue Belt alongside fellow student Harmony, while Pat earned her Green Belt. The trio demonstrated advanced technique, traditional kata, sparring, board breaking and more during their four-hour exam. Congratulations to all three! From left are Renshi Dave, Pat, Harmony and Mohammad.
