KINGSTON, Ontario — There is a reason that football is the fastest-growing sport in the country, and it is shining through here in Kingston. Inspired by the Men and Women’s National Team’s Success over the past 18 months, more and more find themselves falling in love with the beautiful game.
At Kingston United Soccer Club, our numbers are growing rapidly, from the ages of 2-3 years old all the way up to 18. We are building a culture and environment here in which everyone wants to be a part of.
This past Saturday, we took over 200 people from Kingston United Soccer Club to watch Toronto FC play against San Jose, at BMO Field. The experience for the players was phenomenal. Lots of shirts and hats were purchased, pictures were taken, all of which with massive smiles on everyone’s face. These athletes were in their element, watching and enjoying a game of football with their friends, their teammates.
Experiences like this don’t come around all that often, and it certainly enables our athletes to dream big, set their goals high and not stop until they get there. The sky really is the limit for these players. If you love something enough, you can overcome any obstacle, and I for one can’t wait to see what the future holds for these athletes.
Something special is brewing in Kingston, as players spend more and more time at the pitch, playing, watching, even coaching. They simply just can’t get enough. Football is no longer just a sport to these kids. It’s a passion, a love, for some like me, an obsession. The sport is uniting everyone at the club, players from all different backgrounds, into one big, positive, inclusive, brilliant football community.
