Cam Newton, Richard Dent among Atlanta’s top 10 NFL stars

7. Adam Jones, CB, Westlake

“Pacman” Jones is certainly a recognizable name on this list, and his start in football came at Westlake High School where he was also an All-American in basketball and track. A talented running back and defender at Westlake, Jones was named conference player of the year as a senior. He took his talents to West Virginia where he was solid for the Mountaineers in the secondary, but often shined brightest as a kick returner, totaling nearly 1,900 return yards along with two return touchdowns in his final two seasons in Morgantown. Jones decided to forgo his senior season and enter the 2005 NFL Draft where he was selected No. 6 overall by the Tennessee Titans. In his first two years in the league, “Pacman” was terrific with 117 total tackles and four interceptions. He also had four punt return touchdowns which included a 90-yard run back in 2006. However, Jones’ career spiraled after that due to off-field issues, as he was suspended for all of 2007, part of 2008 and sat out of football in 2009. Jones joined the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010 where he would spend the next eight seasons and revitalize his career. He earned his first All-Pro honor in 2014 and his first Pro Bowl nod in 2015, eventually ending his career in 2018 with 509 tackles, 17 interceptions and eight total career touchdowns.
