Hunter Paquin: To be the top golfer in my age group in the State of Idaho.

Cole Paquin: To win a lot of tournaments.

What is your biggest challenge in your sport, and what do you do to manage this challenge?

Hunter: My biggest challenge in the sport is the mental challenge.  I work on this by trying to stay positive and trying not to focus on other players.

Cole: Hitting the ball incorrectly sometimes,  I practice by working on my club face when hitting, and practicing at the range.

What was the best advice you were ever given?

Hunter: The best advice I was ever given was to always try to keep a positive attitude and your worst putt will always be better then your worst chip.

Cole: Always watch my grip, and make sure to watch it because it affects my club face.

What do you love about your sport?

Hunter: I love golf because I like to go out and play a round of 18 holes whenever I can, I like that it is competitive and that I get to travel around the country.

Cole: I like to practice, play with my friends, and make new ones, and I love to travel for golf tournaments.

Do you have a pregame ritual you follow?

Hunter: I do have a pre game ritual, before a tournament I go the the range and start with a low club, normally a wedge, and then I hit my 7 and then my 5 at most warmups, I will then hit my hybrid for a few shots and then worm up my driver.  Then I will take time to warm up and practice my chipping and putting.

Cole: I don’t take too much time to warm up on tournaments days, but I always make sure to warm up my chipping, hit the driving range, I also never take my glove off the whole day until I leave the course because it helps me play better.

What do you like to do outside of your sport?

Hunter: Outside of golf, in the summer, I like to go tubing on the lake, hang out with my friends and practice with them.

Cole: Just like my brother I also like to play with friends, go tubing and wakeboarding on the lake.

What has being a member of a team taught you?

Hunter: We don’t play on teams too much in golf yet, but when I get to play on a team,, like when I played in the US Kids golf Western Cup in Las Vegas, and more recently the Pacific Northwest Pro-Junior, I know it is always best to work together.

Cole: Being a member of a team has taught me it is important to have fun and to encourage each other and cheer each other on.

What is the best piece of advice you received from a coach or mentor?

Hunter: The most important shot is the next shot and to always try to stay positive.  My coach Taylor told me that the worst putt is always better than the worst chip and that has always been something I remember when playing in tournaments.

Cole: The best piece of advice I have received is how to prefect my swing from my coach, and how to grip properly because that can affect my swing.

Describe a mistake you made while competing and how you overcame it.

Hunter: One mistake I made when competing was a misjudgment on a putt which gave me a double bogey, I over came it by keeping a positive attitude, and making a bunch of birdies to make up for it.

Cole: I have made the mistake of letting some bad shots get to me, I overcome this by trying to make myself happy again and not upset, and trying to finish out with pars.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Hunter: If there is any people that are starting the game of golf, try not to get frustrated and always have a positive attitude.  You can have a great time playing golf.

Cole: Never give up if you don’t have a great shot, if you have a good attitude you will come out great and have a good time playing.
