Getting ready for Cherokee Bluff HS baseball team’s 2023 season

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — The Cherokee Bluff baseball team is in the midst of fall camp as they prepare for the 2023 season. After a 2021 Elite Eight appearance in the State Playoffs followed by a 2022 Sweet Sixteen appearance, they have lofty goals and unfinished business.

Led by Head Coach Jeremy Kemp, the Bears hold a program record of 75-40 with a .650 winning percentage over the school’s four-year history. Kemp speaks highly of his stellar staff of assistant coaches that includes Luke Crumley, Griffin Olson, Spencer Sorrells, Gerry Pope, Breck Davidson, Kirklan Moore, and David Cogswell. The staff feels they have laid the groundwork are now ready to see the program meet its potential.

“Cherokee Bluff is still a relatively young school,” says Coach Kemp, “but we are blessed to have achieved success rather quickly. Our program is starting our fifth year. We have made the playoffs every year of existence.”

If you think about it, that means this is only the second year where the senior class has been at the school for four full years. The team is becoming older and more experienced. “Our older players do a great job of taking care of the younger guys and showing them the ropes,” Coach Kemp adds.

The team will be led by seniors Bryce England and Braxton Beal, two four-year starters. Brett House will be another rising star to watch for. Over the past two seasons the roster has gained a ton of playoff experience. They felt the pain and disappointment of falling short and it has been a great motivator.

The 2023 season officially starts at 6pm on February 13th at West Forsyth. Mark your calendar now. The guys are putting in the work during the off-season to deliver this year.

“Our program is full of great, young men that I enjoy working with on a daily basis,” says Coach Kemp, “They are extremely hard workers and love this great game of baseball that we are blessed to be able to play.”
