The legendary Chuck Daly won his first playoff series in season two as head coach of Detroit in 1985. They broomed the New Jersey Nets in a three-game sweep. That would give a glimpse of their potential, as the core of a championship team began to take shape. All-NBA first team point guard Isiah Thomas tallied a career-best 13.9 assists per contest to lead the league. Zeke paired that with a 21.2 point average to pace the Pistons. All-star center Bill Laimbeer logged a personal-high 17.5 points per game. Plus he added 12.4 boards a night. Guard Vinnie Johnson played a major role as well.
