2022-23 MLB free agency: Top 3 best fits for Josh Bell

SAN DIEGO (BVM) – Josh Bell will be in talks with plenty of teams during MLB Free Agency to become their option at first base or as the DH. The 30-yearold switch-hitter began the 2022 season with the Washington Nationals and through 103 games, he was set to have a career year.

Bell went .301/.384/.493 with 14 home runs which earned him attention at the trade deadline and led to the San Diego Padres adding him to help with a playoff push. Unfortunately, Bell struggled in his final 53 regular season games, hitting .192, and most of the postseason. He did redeem himself during the NLCS with a .353 average, a double, homer and three RBIs, but the Padres still came up short against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Bell has had an impressive hitting career with career averages of .262/.351/.469. His struggles at the end of the season with the Padres may have hurt his free agency value. However, for teams that need a strong middle-of-the-lineup hitter and believe they can fix what happened to Bell, he is a great option. Plenty of teams will be interested in Bell and may even be able to get him cheaper than originally expected. Here are the three best options for Bell in free agency.

Other teams to pay attention to: Milwaukee Brewers, St. Louis Cardinals, Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians
