Odell Beckham Jr. is perfect fit for Dallas Cowboys
DALLAS (BVM) – With NFL teams vying for Odell Beckham Jr.’s services since the start of NFL free agency back in March, the rumor mill has once again sparked as the star wide receiver nears a return to the field. Taking a calculated approach to where he wants to end up over the past year, the Dallas Cowboys might just be hitting their stride at the perfect time in the Beckham sweepstakes.
Following a commanding 40-3 win over the one-loss Minnesota Vikings, Beckham and current Cowboys’ linebacker Micah Parson only added to the speculation after the duo enjoyed some online recruiting.

Currently sitting as one of the top playoff contenders in the NFC, Dallas has come alive since the return of quarterback Dak Prescott. In his four games since returning from injury, the Cowboys have scored at least 40 points twice and rank first overall in the league in points, third in rushing yards and sixth in passing yards. With a top–ranked defensive unit all year, the upgrade on offense has been a welcomed sight.
“We just gotta hold each other accountable,” Prescott said following the win over Minnesota. “This team can be special, but we’ve gotta take it one game at a time. We can’t have a winning hangover and start smelling ourselves after this win. It’s about turning the page and getting in tomorrow and being our best tomorrow.”
Rarely does a Super Bowl contending team get the luxury of adding a premier talent like Beckham at this point in the season, but an acquisition for the star receiver could provide just that. Following a disappointing two-and-a-half year stint with the Browns, Beckham became an irreplaceable cog in the Los Angeles Rams’ title run in 2021, posting 44 catches for 537 yards and five touchdowns to end the regular season. In the playoffs, the LSU product added another 21 receptions for 288 yards and two touchdowns as his team went on to outlast the Cincinnati Bengals in the final game.
With wide receivers Ceedee Lamb and Noah Brown enjoying standout seasons – along with Michael Gallup beginning to return to his pre-ACL form – Beckham could prove to be the perfect piece alongside the group. According to PlayerProfiler, Lamb has taken just over 40 percent of his snaps this year from the slot. Adding someone who can work outside with Beckham’s skillset could provide even more to the team’s passing game. Featuring one of the top rushing attacks in the league, the move would also help improve the team’s play-action ability.
After tearing his ACL in last year’s Super Bowl, the star wideout has taken the last nine months to recover from his second ACL tear in a span of about 16 months. With his addition to the Rams last year signaling a clear play at a Super Bowl trophy, Beckham’s desires on either a long-term situation, compared to another one-year run at a Lombardi Trophy, is still unknown.
Regardless, the Cowboys are making it known that they should be at the top of his list. With all levels of the organization adding to the speculation, Dallas owner Jerry Jones made his view on the situation very clear.
“Odell is someone that we have all the appreciation in the world for what he is as a competitor,” Jones told 105.3 The Fan. “I know the Cowboys star on that helmet when he puts it on could look pretty good.”
Along with Jones, head coach Mike McCarthy also shared his opinion on the status of Beckham in past weeks, mentioning that he has always taken notice of the free agent wide receiver.
“In particular to Odell, I’ve always been a huge fan of his,” McCarthy said in a press conference. “From Ben McAdoo, Joe Whitt [Jr.], all the guys that I’ve worked with, from the New York Giants and the Cleveland Browns, everybody has nothing but great things to say about him. Obviously, I’ve always been so impressed with his football playing ability, but I’ve just heard so many excellent, excellent things about him over the years. I think those are conversations for the future. Right now, we’re focused on our guys.”
This past weekend, it was reported that the star wideout will visit with both the Cowboys and Giants after the teams’ Thanksgiving Day game. With a possible reunion in the cards for Beckham, the Cowboys could have extra motivation to keep him away from a division rival. With the way the team has played as of late, the Cowboys have to assume they currently have the upper hand.
