Kyle Busch eager for ‘fresh start’ with Richard Childress Racing

NASHVILLE (BVM) – The NASCAR Awards on Saturday recognized the top drivers for their performances in 2022. Kyle Busch was given a moment to speak on his shocking move from Joe Gibbs Racing to Richard Childress Racing for the 2023 season.

The two-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion was asked to reflect on the last 15 years of his career — which included this past season of one win, eight top five finishes and 17 top 10s.

“First thing that comes to mind was, I was a kid when I jumped over there at 22, 23 years old,” started Busch in his speech. “We had no idea which fork was for what and the spoon and knives, we learned our way through life at Joe Gibbs Racing… It’s been like a family.”

Busch also commented on what excites him the most about his future with Richard Childress Racing.

“A little bit of a fresh start,” Busch said. “I look back towards when I moved from Hendrick Motorsports to Joe Gibbs Racing — what that was like and we won eight races that first year.

“I look at Tom Brady and Peyton Manning where you see some of these guys that are successful in the organizations they’ve helped build to the level of prestige that they’re at, and you have that chance to be able to go somewhere else and I got to prove that I’m able to do that, that I’m one of the catalysts of being able to elevate RCR to not only winning races but also bring them back to a championship-caliber organization, whether I do it or he does it (Austin Dillon).”
