Ranking the top 10 Dallas Mavericks players of all time
5. Luka Doncic (2018-present)
By the time his career is all said and done, Doncic could very well be sitting at the top of this list. In just over four seasons with the Mavs, he has already proven to be one of the best players in franchise history, and will likely shatter many records in the coming years. Coming over from Europe after he was selected third overall in the 2018 NBA Draft, Doncic showed his stuff immediately in the U.S., earning the NBA Rookie of the Year Award in 2018-19. In each of the following seasons, Doncic has become an All-Star, averaging 27 points or better. In 2022-23, he has increased his scoring to over 32 points per game, putting his career averages at 27 points, 8.5 rebounds and eight assists. The do-it-all player is also a lethal shooter and has provided the Mavs with plenty of big moments during three consecutive playoff seasons, leading his team to the Western Conference Finals in 2021-22. Already, Doncic is seventh all time in scoring for the Mavs, and eighth in field goals made. He is also already in the top five in franchise history for 3-point makes in both the regular season and playoffs, and 10th in career assists.
