ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (BVM) – Here are the top 10 highest-paid female athletes in the world for 2022, according to Forbes.
Notably, while many of the world’s top-earning men in sports are recognizable, the No. 1 highest-earner in women’s sports claims she is relatively anonymous to the public eye. So, can you recognize all of the female athletes on this list?
10. Minjee Lee ($7.3 million)
A total of $4.8 million of Lee’s $7.3 million earnings were from on-field accomplishments. That’s in part from winning the $1 million prize from the LPGA Tour Aon Risk Reward Challenge. Also, her U.S. Women’s Open victory led to the largest payout in the history of women’s golf at $1.8 million.
“Girls have been a lot more interested in playing so hopefully they can watch me on TV and they’ll start getting more involved,” Lee said following her championship win at the US Women’s Open in June.
Lee’s South Korean heritage has led to sponsorships with Hana Bank (headquartered in Seoul) and South-Korean golf brand apparel WAAC.
