Top 10 NFL rookie head coaching seasons

NEW YORK (BVM) – The New York Giants are out of the playoffs after losing in the Divisional round to the Philadelphia Eagles. It was a tough loss but it did not in any way diminish what the Giants and rookie head coach Brian Daboll accomplished this season. Daboll entered a New York Giants franchise that had just gone 4-13 in 2021, was in turmoil, lacked talent on the roster and had many questions that needed to be answered. In particular, what would be done with quarterback Daniel Jones when his rookie contract ended after the season?

The former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator took a team that people thought would be at the bottom of the NFL and vying for a top draft pick, to a 9-7-1 playoff team that was able to upset the Minnesota Vikings on the road in the wild card round of the playoffs. It also appears that Daboll might have saved Jones’ career in New York as he played well enough for the Giants to want him back on a new contract.

Daboll’s first year was extremely impressive. He was able to coach up a team to a playoff berth and give the New York fan base something to cheer for. However, is it one of the best rookie head coaching seasons in NFL history?

Here are the top 10 best rookie seasons by an NFL head coach.
