In a game without Stephen Curry, Thompson was tasked with doing the heavy lifting on the offensive end for the Warriors in a tight battle against the Atlanta Hawks. Thompson’s 54-point effort would be crucial during a two-overtime shootout, as the guard nearly ended the first overtime with a go-ahead bucket to put Golden State up two with 17 seconds remaining. He would eventually score two points in the second overtime as he came up just short of his career-high (60). Behind his 10 3-pointers and a total of 21-39 shooting, the Warriors would outlast the Hawks, 143-141 on Jan. 3.
