Hendrick Motorsports was hit with L2-level penalties for unapproved parts modifications to their four Cup Series cars at Phoenix Raceway. Each crew chief received a $100,000 fine and will serve a four race suspension, each team and driver lost 100 points and 10 playoff points — except for Chase Elliott who has a substitute driver. Mike Massaro sits down with longtime NASCAR writer Nate Ryan to discuss these penalties. Trackhouse Racing director of performance Darian Grubb also stops by this episode of “Cup Connection” to talk about his past success as an interim crew chief for Hendrick and what’s in store at Circuit of the Americas for Kimi Räikkönen’s second career race in the No. 91.
