Hamilton Skating Club members Huang and Startek compete in Novice National Championship
HAMILTON, Ontario — The 2022/23 competitive season has come to a conclusion for two of Hamilton Skating Club’s young athletes. With incredible hard work and dedication to the daily process of improvement, both Angela Huang and Quinn Startek earned a chance to compete at a national championship. It was a first for both athletes, and they represented Ontario, Hamilton Skating Club, and themselves extremely well.
Angela took part in the women’s category at the Novice National Championship recently held in Calgary, Alberta. She competed with great grit and determination, earning herself an eleventh-place ranking at the conclusion of the short and free programs. She has spent her entire skating career at the Hamilton Skating Club, beginning in the grassroots program and honing her skills over the following eight years. Not only does Angela show great dedication to her skating, but she is also a very high-achieving high school student and an accomplished piano player.
Quinn started at the Hamilton Skating Club at the young age of four. Anyone around could sense that from the moment she first walked on the ice she loved to skate. From that young age, she has been a great example to all of the athletes around her. Her strength lies in her determination to reach her goals. This tireless pursuit makes her an inspiration and role model to skaters both older and younger. Quinn competed her way to a 27th-place ranking in the Pre-Novice Women event held at the Skate Canada Challenge in Regina this past January. Pre-Novice Women is the most populated event in Canada, and Quinn’s passion led to such a positive result.
Hamilton Skating Club is extremely proud of both athletes, and we know that their pursuit of excellence will continue to help them succeed in all aspects of their young lives.
