2023 MLB season preview: AL West

(BVM) – The AL West is headlined by the reigning World Series champions, the Houston Astros. The Astros are still the team to beat in the MLB and enter the season once again with the potential to make a deep playoff run. Behind Houston is a group of teams that run the gambit from the Oakland Athletics who are in year one of a rebuild to the Los Angeles Angels who are desperate to make the playoffs in an attempt to keep Shohei Ohtani.

The Seattle Mariners ended the franchise’s playoff drought last season and have the young talent to make it back to the postseason while the Texas Rangers have made some large free agency moves to make the playoffs.

The division should be one of the better ones in the MLB with four teams having the potential to make it to October but only time will tell if the preseason predictions come to fruition. At the end of the day, the only thing that is certain is Houston will likely win the AL West and that if Los Angeles doesn’t make the playoffs, it will probably lose Ohtani in free agency and have wasted having two of the best baseball players in the world during their prime.

Here is the preseason preview of every team in the AL West.
