10 best Detroit Lions draft picks in franchise history
10. Billy Sims, RB (1980, No. 1 overall)
Sims entered the NFL as a much-ballyhooed running back. No. 20 was electric on the field as he seized the 1978 Heisman Trophy. He hit the ground at full speed in Detroit. Sims won AP Offensive Rookie of the Year with 1,303 yards rushing, 13 TDs and 621 yards receiving. The star ball carrier finished his pro career with 5,106 yards and 42 TDs. Both are No. 2 all-time in franchise history.
