5 standouts from the Oklahoma Sooners’ spring game
5. Gavin Freeman, WR
Oklahoma will have a young core of offensive playmakers this year and will be looking for some wide receivers to step up behind Drake Stoops and Andrel Anthony. After Saturday, it looks like one of those guys could be Freeman. On the day, Freeman made three catches for 47 yards and a touchdown, which was actually an identical stat line to that of backup running back Gavin Sawchuk, who was also impressive on Saturday. However, it was the 5-foot-8, 170-pound Freeman who made one of the biggest plays of the day with a 30-yard touchdown grab on a pass from Jackson Arnold to even up the score at 82 late. Last year, Freeman had just three catches for 46 yards, but fans can expect more this fall as the Sooners look to potentially mold him into Stoops’ eventual replacement.
