Cassell has been an assistant coach with Philadelphia under Rivers since 2020 and is a favorite of 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey. The 15-year veteran and three-time NBA champion has also been a positive influence on Harden and the rest of the Sixers’ guards. Cassell has never been an NBA head coach – despite 13 years of experience as an NBA assistant – but his familiarity and relationship with the franchise’s stars make him a viable candidate to become the next 76ers head coach.
