Nikola Jokic: Where the 40 players drafted before him are now

Andrew Wiggins (No. 1 by Cavaliers) – The 2022 NBA champion and All-Star, who averaged 17.1 points and five rebounds with the Warriors (2022-23), is expected to earn a base salary of about $24 million in 2023-24. 

Jabari Parker (No. 2 by Bucks) – His career was plagued by injuries that prevented him from finding his footing on six different NBA teams. He was last waived by the Celtics in 2022, and in early 2023, it was reported that he was looking to play basketball overseas. 

Joel Embiid (No. 3 by 76ers) – The 2023 NBA MVP and six-time All-Star, who averaged 33.1 points and 10.2 rebounds with the 76ers (2022-23), is expected to earn a base salary of about $47 million in 2023-24. 

Aaron Gordon (No. 4 by Magic) – The power forward is playing some of the best basketball of his career alongside Nikola Jokic with the Denver Nuggets heading into the 2023 NBA Finals (currently averaging 16.3 points and 6.6 rebounds). 

Dante Exum (No. 5 by Jazz) – Injury ended his NBA career and he last played with the Cavaliers for the 2020-21 season. As of 2023, he plays for the Partizan Belgrade of the EuroLeague. 

Marcus Smart (No. 6 by Celtics) – Averaging 14.9 points and 4.1 rebounds for the Celtics in the current 2023 postseason, Smart is expected to earn a base salary of about $18 million in 2023-24. 

Julius Randle (No. 7 by Lakers) – The two-time NBA All-Star, who averaged 25.1 points and 10 rebounds this past season with the Knicks, is expected to earn a base salary of about $26 million in 2023-24. 

Nik Stauskas (No. 8 by Kings) – He bounced around different NBA, G League and overseas teams for the past several years. He last played in the NBA for the 2021-22 season, but little is known about his current endeavors.  

Noah Vonleh (No. 9 by Hornets) – He bounced around from team to team for most of his career and also had a stint in China. He was last traded to the Spurs by the Celtics in 2023 but was waived soon after. 

Elfrid Payton (No. 10 by Magic) – He last played in the NBA with the Suns for the 2021-22 season. In 2023, he played for the G League’s Fort Wayne Mad Ants, but he’s currently looking to get back into the NBA.
