Derrick Rose to hit free agency; 5 potential landing spots
NEW YORK (BVM) – The New York Knicks and Derrick Rose will likely be heading in separate directions for the upcoming year after the team decided against picking up his option ahead of free agency. The veteran guard was set to make $15.6 million next year but now finds himself set to hit the open market, according to ESPN.

Coming over in a trade from the Detroit Pistons back in 2021, Rose carved out a solid role in his second stint with the team as he entered the 2022-23 season with another chance to make an impact off the bench. That, however, wouldn’t quite come to fruition for the three-time All-Star who saw his minutes dip from 24.5 minutes a game to 12.5 minutes this past season. With Jalen Brunson’s ability to run the bulk of the team’s offense from the position, Rose found himself on the outside looking in of the rotation.
The 34-year-old guard averaged just 5.6 points and 1.7 assists on the year after enjoying double-digit scoring averages over the previous six seasons. As the former Most Valuable Player looks for a more defined role heading forward, here are five possible landing spots.
