8. Luke Schmidt, Jasper (2002-05)

Schmidt was tremendous during his four years at Jasper High School, and is one of several guys on this list who would stay in state to play at the next level. During his prep career with the Wildcats, Schmidt ran for 7,275 yards, and ranks in the top 15 in all-time career scoring in Indiana.

Following his time at Jasper, Schmidt was a highly-touted four-star recruit who decided to head north for his college career to South Bend, Indiana and play for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound rusher made the transition to fullback in Charlie Weis’ offense before his career came to a premature end due to recurring concussions.
