Baseball alum Higgins promoted in SF Giants’ farm system

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Hitting at a high level is what Matt Higgins does, and that didn’t change in his first stop in Minor League Baseball. As a result, the former Bellarmine University All-American and 2022 ASUN Player of the Year earned a promotion in the San Francisco Giants’ farm system, as Higgins has been sent up to the High-A affiliate Eugene Emeralds. In his first year of pro ball, Higgins excelled for the Giants’ Class-A affiliate, the San Jose Giants, batting .309/.400/.492 in 64 games.
