Blake Snell on the trade block; 5 possible landing spots
SAN DIEGO (BVM) – The yearly conversation surrounding wins for pitchers and how much the stat matters should look no further than San Diego Padres ace Blake Snell.
So far in 2023, Snell has put together a Cy Young-caliber season for the Padres, sporting a 2.61 ERA in over 110 innings pitched. While Snell’s numbers top many of the league leaders, his win-loss record (7-8) doesn’t come close to those around him in the discussion.
Flanked by a team that’s disappointed throughout the current campaign, the Padres find themselves in a tough spot with just under a 25% chance to make the postseason, according to Baseball Reference.
With that in mind, a few household names will likely be added to the trade block up until the Aug. 1 deadline. If they decide to sell off, these teams could find themselves looking to make a trade for Snell.
