‘Captain Andrew Luck’ appears on Thursday Night Football
SAN FRANCISCO (BVM) — The San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants kicked off Week 3 of the NFL season on Thursday Night Football (TNF) and during a postgame segment, Andrew Luck made a surprise appearance as a social media parody “Captain Andrew Luck.”

Luck appeared on a TNF quiz segment related to the annual rivalry game played between California and Stanford, but his surprise portrayal of a once-popular social media account, “Captain Andrew Luck,” set the internet ablaze.
“The war is over,” Luck said on the broadcast. “We’re in greener pastures in California and life’s quite good.”
The account was a popular parody on Twitter, now X, and it took advantage of Luck’s looks, which resembled a Civil War soldier and featured “letters” written to his mother.
Dearest mother —
My beard has been tapered — but not tampered. Thusly, I shall resume my quiet days in my Appalachian cabin, reading to the birds. A basket with spiced beaver thighs and fresh squirrel oil is on the way. T’was lovely to correspond once more. I love you.

It hasn’t been active since May 22, but on Friday morning, the account followed up with Luck’s TNF appearance.
“I hope my appearance on the magical, moving picture box filled you with joy,” the post said. “As you could see, my resolve has never been more robust. Squirrel oil and your peppered chipmunk feet have kept me sturdy. Life is splendid. Give the cows my best. I love you.”

Luck spent seven seasons in the NFL, but he unexpectedly retired in 2019, ending what looked to be a promising career and since then, he’s moved back to California and is aiming to get his master’s degree from Stanford. He’s also returned to the gridiron as a coach for Palo Alto High School and has helped it to a 2-2 record.
Luck bringing the parody account to life is certainly amusing to many and while he remains busy in retirement, Luck’s TNF appearance seems to vindicate that he’s enjoying his time away from the NFL.
