10 players who could make a surprise impact at 2023 Ryder Cup
(BVM) – The 2023 Ryder Cup is set to tee off on Friday at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Italy, and the 44th edition of the event holds plenty of intriguing storylines.
The U.S. is coming off of a 2021 Ryder Cup in which they had a historical performance, beating Europe 19-9 at Whistling Straits which was the largest margin of victory in the event in over 50 years. Two years later, Team USA will again feature a stacked group of players that seem capable of a dominating win yet again.
However, despite often being seen as the underdogs in this event, Europe can never be counted out. That especially rings true when the event is held on foreign soil, as the U.S. has not won the Ryder Cup away from home since 1993. Europe has also won four of the last six Ryder Cups overall, the most recent of which came at Le Golf National in France in 2018.
In 2023, Team Europe will have a much different look than it has in the past, with several young, first-time Ryder Cup players taking the course as the team ushers in a new era of sorts. Meanwhile, Team USA also has several unproven players on its roster in addition to its usual stars.
As a result, there are several guys who could make a surprise impact for whichever team wins this weekend. Here are 10 under-the-radar players who could be key to success in the 2023 Ryder Cup.
