Jimmy Butler surprises at NBA media day with new look
MIAMI (BVM) – Miami Heat media day has become quite the spectacle over the past two seasons as Jimmy Butler continued to steal the show with his newest look entering the season.

Butler was the talk of the league dating back to last year’s event after the star guard arrived sporting a much different hairstyle than those had become accustomed to. That trend continued on Monday when Butler arrived with a similar surprise.

“I had dreads last year,” Butler said when asked about his new appearance. “What’s this? This is my emotional state. I’m one with my emotions. This is what you get.”
Butler’s described “emo” look caught plenty of attention from media covering the event and even surprised some of his teammates that had yet to see him.
“That is (bleep) hilarious,” Bam Adebayo told Tim Reynolds after seeing a picture of Butler.

While Butler certainly had some fun with the look, and some of the answers regarding it, he and head coach Erik Spoelstra still provided some insight into the team’s goals this year after coming up short in the 2023 NBA Finals.
“This is our year,” Butler said. “This is the one. And this one’s going to feel real good, by the way.”
“We have an amazing opportunity to compete for a title,” Spoelstra said. “That is the main thing.”
With storylines centered around Miami landing star point guard Damian Lillard this offseason, his recent trade to the Milwaukee Bucks shocked plenty of NBA observers, and those around the Heat. Even without the addition of a superstar over the past few months, Butler thinks they have enough to get back to the final series.
“Yeah we straight,” Butler said. “Like I always say, I know what I’m capable of. I know what my guys are capable of. So, we’ll continue to play basketball as a unit, as a team. Somehow, some way end up in the Finals. This time we’ll win it. And then y’all gonna say that you got lucky, so I’m prepared for it.”
