INDIANAPOLIS (BVM) – Here are the 10 highest-paid college football coaches for the 2023 season.

While the highest-paid coaches are making millions of dollars, UL-Monroe head coach Terry Bowden is the lowest-paid ($435,400) of the 119 coaches within USA Today’s 2023 salaries database.

Jim Harbaugh holds a 74-25 record as the head coach at Michigan, yet, he doesn’t make this top 10 list with his total pay of $8.25 million. He’s a huge reason why the Wolverines could become the first football program in history to reach 1,000 wins. Note that each coach’s record listed is compiled from the information displayed in the NCAA statistics database, which excludes vacated wins.

Overall, some college football coaches are in need of a raise while others are subjectively overpaid. Mel Tucker (whose record with the Spartans is 18-14) would have been No. 5 on this list, but Michigan State more recently fired him without pay.

In general, the SEC has seven of the 10 highest-paid college football coaches in the country in 2023. Following the SEC’s coaches in total pay are the Big Ten, Atlantic Coast Conference, Pac-12 and Big 12, respectively.
