Saying the Patriots have been successful at running the “tush push” might not be the most accurate, but head coach Bill Bellichick and offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien have been quite open to using it during the 2023 campaign. So far, the Patriots aren’t finding the success the Eagles have found with the play, and it’s probably not that hard to figure out why. With a less-than-mobile quarterback in Mac Jones, New England has found itself just over 50% with three successful tries in five attempts. For everyone discussing the idea that only the Eagles can run it, the Patriots probably serve as the best indicator of that specific narrative, without the ideal quarterback-center combo to use the “tush push” to its full capabilities.
