Montez Sweat on the trade block? 5 possible landing spots
WASHINGTON (BVM) – Defensive end Montez Sweat has been a consistent yet underappreciated presence along the Washington Commanders‘ defensive line as teammates Chase Young, Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne. Over his five years in D.C., Sweat has recorded 192 tackles, 45 tackles for loss, 34.5 sacks, nine forced fumbles and an interception which he returned for a touchdown.
As an impending free agent after the season, rumors have begun circulating that the Commanders may move on from Sweat. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini feels that either Sweat or Young could be moved by the deadline if Washington gets a fair deal. CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson reiterated the interest of other teams in both Sweat and Young.
Meanwhile, it is my understanding, that there are several identifiable teams that have both interest in trading for either #Commanders DEs Montez Sweat or Chase Young, AND are willing to offer either a long-term deal ahead of free agency.
