Top 10 moments of Kevin Harvick’s NASCAR career

8. “The Closer” winning several close races

One of the 47-year-old’s nicknames is “Happy Harvick,” but throughout the duration of his Cup Series career, the driver earned another nickname: “The Closer.” The name stems from Harvick’s clutch abilities late in races, but also his history of winning some of the closest races ever seen in NASCAR. Of course, the most notable came in his emotional victory in 2001 in Atlanta at the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store 500 in which he beat Jeff Gordon by 0.006 seconds. However, Harvick has also won three of NASCAR’s other top-25 closest races, including the 2016 Good Sam 500 at Phoenix in which he beat Carl Edwards by 0.010 seconds, the 2010 Aaron’s 499 at Talladega where he beat Jamie McMurray by 0.011 seconds, and the 2007 Daytona 500 in which he edged out Mark Martin by 0.020 seconds.
