Lamar University’s women’s soccer team made history on Sunday by winning their second consecutive Southland Conference Soccer Tournament title, a feat that has not been accomplished since the tournament’s inception in 1997. The Cardinals emerged victorious after defeating their rivals, the McNeese Cowgirls, with a score of 3-1 in the finals. Arely Alaniz was crowned the tournament’s MVP, with Trinity Clark and Eva Karen also scoring for the Cardinals. The team will now eagerly await the NCAA Tournament selection show to discover their destination.
