Glenville defeats Archbishop Alter to win back-to-back state titles

CANTON, Ohio – Glenville scored on its first possession and never looked back as the Tarblooders beat Archbishop Alter 38-3 Saturday night to win the OHSAA Division IV state championship for the second year in a row. Glenville received the opening kickoff and marched 92 yards on 15 plays, capped by a 16-yard touchdown run by quarterback Ruel Tomlinson. And then the Glenville defense forced a fumble on the first Alter offensive play and took advantage with a 17-yard touchdown pass from Tomlinson to Damarrion Witten.
