Wink Martindale steps down; 5 candidates for Giants’ DC

NEW YORK (BVM) – The New York Giants and defensive coordinator Don “Wink” Martindale decided to part ways Monday. Martindale is a well-respected coordinator with 20 years in the NFL, but his unit struggled for the majority of the 2023 season, ranking No. 27 in total defense, No. 19 in pass defense, No. 29 in rush defense and No. 26 in scoring defense.

With Martindale now out, the Giants will look to find a defensive coordinator who can right the ship for a New York squad just one year removed from a divisional playoff appearance. Given Giants’ head coach Brian Daboll’s experience and offensive success in the NFL, the G-Men will likely be a popular destination for any of the top defensive minds on the market. With that in mind, here are five potential candidates for the Giants defensive coordinator position.
