Wink Martindale steps down; 5 candidates for Giants’ DC
5. Kacy Rodgers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers co-defensive coordinator, Rodgers has been in the NFL since 2003 and has a long list of successes under his belt including mentoring the likes of Pro Bowlers Vita Vea, Muhammed Wilkerson, Cameron Wake and La’Roi Glover among others. He also has a connection with Daboll as the two worked together in Miami in 2011.
However, Rodgers has very strong ties to Bucs head coach Todd Bowles, even serving as Bowles defensive coordinator with the New York Jets from 2015-18. This makes his potential to head back to New York a little less likely. However, if Rodgers had a desire to return to being a standalone defensive coordinator, the Giants would provide him a great opportunity to do so.
