Wink Martindale steps down; 5 candidates for Giants’ DC
4. Bobby Babich
The son of longtime defensive coordinator and assistant coach Bob Babich, Bobby is next in line for a similar position. The Buffalo Bills linebackers coach since 2022, Bobby helped Matt Milano earn first-team All-Pro honors last season. As Buffalo’s safeties coach from 2018-2021, Bobby also helped Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde earned All-Pro honors as well.
Bobby and Daboll worked together with the Bills from 2018-2021 so the two are familiar with one another. While Bobby doesn’t have experience as a play caller yet, he’s an up-and-coming defensive mind who has shown success in every position he’s held in Buffalo and has a deep understanding of the NFL game thanks to his dad. If Daboll feels he’s ready to make the leap, Bobby could be an ideal fit for the Giants.
