CALGARY, Alberta (BVM) – The Calgary Flames have been one of the NHL’s biggest disappointments this season and that is ultimately why many are expecting them to have a fire sale. They already sent Nikita Zadorov to the Canucks in November and they still have Elias Lindholm, Chris Tanev and Noah Hanifin who could also be used as trade bait.
Lindholm is the biggest fish.
The 29-year-old Swedish forward is in the midst of a down year offensively with only 30 points in 46 games, but his real value comes in the form of his two-way style of play. Lindholm was the runner-up for the Selke Award in the 2021-22 season and placed 10th in the voting last season.
The pending free agent could slot into any lineup seamlessly, making him arguably the most coveted player for this year’s trade deadline. These are five organizations that should pursue him.
