Wes Unseld Jr. moved; 5 Wizards head coach candidates
WASHINGTON (BVM) – The Washington Wizards moved head coach Wes Unseld Jr. into a front office advisory role Thursday. Washington will promote top assistant Brian Keefe into the interim head coach position and will focus on a full head coach search this offseason.

Unseld struggled during his time in D.C., going 77-130 (.372) in two-and-a-half seasons, missing the playoffs in both years before starting the 2023-24 campaign with a 7-36 record. While Unseld is well respected across the league, this move was expected to happen regardless as the Wizards overhauled their front office by hiring Michael Winger as president of Monumental Basketball and Will Dawkins as general manager this offseason.

Though Washington has had difficulties over the past few seasons, the team still has some pieces to work with including Kyle Kuzma, Jordan Poole, Tyus Jones and Daniel Gafford just to name a few. If the Wizards can get a coach who can get the most out of their players and can work in lockstep with the front office, they may be able to turn things around quickly. With that in mind, here are five potential head coach replacements.
