Ranking the 10 NFL players likeliest to be franchise tagged
CINCINNATI (BVM) – NFL teams can place the franchise tag on their players beginning Tuesday. Each franchise receives one tag which it can use by March 5 on an impending unrestricted free agent to keep them from entering free agency. Given the power of this franchise tag, many organizations use it to keep their best players in-house while adding time for the team to negotiate potential new contracts with the athlete or to keep them from signing with competitors.
Over the years, the franchise tag has been used on numerous marquee players including Josh Jacobs, Lamar Jackson and Saquon Barkley just last season. This year is no different as numerous standouts are once again set to hit the open market including multiple All-Pros and Pro Bowlers.
With that in mind, here are the 10 NFL players most likely to be franchise tagged over the next two weeks.
