Ranking the 10 NFL players likeliest to be franchise tagged
9. Saquon Barkley, RB, New York Giants
Barkley received the franchise tag a year ago and he could again this year. While his numbers this past season weren’t as impressive as they were in 2022, Barkley was still the bright spot of a Giants offense that struggled mightily in 2023. With 1,242 total yards and 10 total touchdowns in 14 games, Barkley lived up to his one-year deal and has proven to be one of the league’s best backs when healthy. Given New York’s lack of offensive weapons, it would make sense to keep their best asset, but after franchising him last offseason, would the team want to do it again?
