Ranking the 10 best Baltimore Orioles in franchise history
10. Mark Belanger, SS (1965-1981)
Belanger wasn’t the most adept performer at the plate during his 17-year career with the Orioles. Far from it, in fact.
The eight-time Gold Glove shortstop’s defensive prowess is what lands him on this rankings list.
Belanger sports a .977 career fielding percentage. When he was stationed in the middle of the infield for at least 100 games in a season, Baltimore never finished with a losing record. He helped the O’s win the World Series in 1970, as well.
Belanger finished his career with one season as a Los Angeles Dodger in 1982.
