Young’s play has been somewhat disappointing in the past year or so but he has continued to show flashes of why he is capable of winning a major sooner than later. The 27-year-old certainly has gained some valuable major experience in the past, particularly in the PGA Championship where he finished tied for third at Southern Hills in 2022. Young also finished second at the Open Championship in 2022 before a pair of top 10s at the Masters and the Open Championship in 2023. Young’s 2024 results have been up and down, but he has finished in the top 10 four times at the WM Phoenix Open, the Cognizant Classic, the Valspar Championship, and most notably, the Masters. Young will probably be overlooked by many going into the week, but his proven capability in majors makes him a darkhorse contender.
