DeVonta Smith lives in a ‘small house’ despite NFL salary

PHILADELPHIA (BVM) – Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith lives in a house he bought for $624,900 in 2021. Smith continues to reside in the home even after securing his new three-year, $75 million contract extension with the Eagles.

Smith’s upper-middle-class home, pictured below, is relatively small compared to the mansions many other millionaire NFL players choose to buy. Smith signed a four-year, $20.1 million deal in 2021 before purchasing the modest home.

The 3,288-square-foot, five-bedroom home in Marlton, New Jersey features an open floor plan, an open loft on the second floor and a finished living area in the basement.

The image of Smith’s $600K house has been going viral since he signed his $75 million extension in April. NFL fans online have been labeling him as either humble or cheap.

“Smart move, he will be able to sustain his standard of living well beyond his NFL career,” commented one user under a viral Facebook post of Smith’s home.

“Not good that he’s being cheap because I doubt it’s even a gated community so he’s risking his safety,” wrote another.

Smith’s real estate portfolio also includes a house he bought for his mother for $700K in 2021. While reports indicate he owns two properties in total, it also wouldn’t be surprising if he secretly owns a third property worth millions of dollars.

But given his $75 million contract extension, will Smith sell his $600,000 home for a more lavish living space? Or will the statistic that about 80% of NFL players go broke in their first three years of retirement linger over his head?
