Ranking the 10 greatest Boston Red Sox of all time
10. Dustin Pedroia, 2B (2006-19)
A career Bostonian, Pedroia’s pair of World Series rings are what boost him past Baseball Hall of Famers Bobby Doerr and Jim Rice for the final spot.
As the American League’s Rookie of the Year, Pedroia slashed .283/.348/.483 in the 2007 postseason, which concluded in Boston’s Fall Classic triumph. The following year, the Muddy Chicken earned the Junior Circuit’s MVP award by tying for the major leagues’ lead in hits (213) and pacing the AL in runs scored (118).
He signed a hefty contract extension in 2013, which turned out to be his fourth and final All-Star showing on the way to another world title. During his 14-year odyssey, Pedroia slashed .299/.365/.439 with 140 homers and 725 RBIs.
