Ranking the top 10 NFL players from the state of New Jersey
10. Jim Ringo, C (1953-67)
If you looked at a center Ringo’s size in today’s NFL, you probably couldn’t help but chuckle. Getting set in front of the six-time All-Pro fulcrum, however, was no laughing matter.
Ringo never weighed more than 235 pounds during his 15-year career — 11 of which were spent with Green Bay. Using quickness and intellect, he helped pave the road on sweeps for the Packers and coach Vince Lombardi.
Ringo was twice an NFL champion and also made the trip to 10 Pro Bowls. A Pro Football Hall of Famer, he was born in Orange and attended Phillipsburg High School.
