Lane Thomas trade rumors buzzing: 5 possible landing spots

WASHINGTON (BVM) – The Washington Nationals continue to fade from the playoff picture in the National League and are expected to sell ahead of the MLB trade deadline. One of the most notable players the Nats could look to move is veteran outfielder Lane Thomas.

Recently, MLB.com executive reporter Mark Feinsand noted that there is a fair amount of buzz regarding Thomas being dealt. Feinsand also detailed how moving Thomas right now could be beneficial for the Nationals, particularly as outfielders James Wood and Dylan Crews get closer to making an impact in the big leagues.

Thomas, who is under contract through the 2025 season, is hitting .246 this year with eight home runs, 39 RBIs and a .712 OPS. Those numbers are down from what was a career year in 2023 where Thomas hit 28 home runs with 86 RBIs.

The 28-year-old outfielder’s trade value might not be quite as high as it was at this time last year, but he could still be a valuable piece in the lineup for a team looking to make a playoff run over the next couple of months. Here are five landing spots for Thomas if he is dealt before the trade deadline.
