5 drivers who could replace Corey LaJoie at Spire Motorsports
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (BVM) – There have been some interesting storylines off the track throughout the 2024 NASCAR season and another came out recently as Spire Motorsports announced that it will be parting ways with Corey LaJoie.
“Corey LaJoie has been a cornerstone of Spire Motorsports since 2021 and it would be impossible to overstate what he’s meant to this organization.”

LaJoie has spent nine years racing in the Cup Series overall and has been a full-time driver with Spire on a multiyear agreement since 2021, becoming the team’s first full-time driver after its formation in 2019.
However, the driver of the No. 7 Chevrolet has failed to produce many positive results with just nine top-10 finishes in his Cup Series career, one of which came this season as he finished fourth at the Daytona 500. He currently sits 28th in the 2024 Cup Series points standings.
“I won’t be driving the 7 car next year,” LaJoie said in a statement. “I take a lot of satisfaction from having an integral part of building Spire into a respectable team on the grid, but unfortunately the future won’t involve me. We will finish the remainder of 2024 strong, continuing to deliver for my partners, my guys who work hard to build good cars, family, fans and friends who have supported me since day one in the Cup Series.
“This chapter ends after Phoenix and I’m excited to see what the Lord has in store for my family next.”
Spire plans to run as a three-car team in 2025 with Carson Hocevar remaining in the No. 77 and Michael McDowell replacing Zane Smith in the No. 71. The team will also add veteran crew chief Rodney Childers for the No. 7 car, but it remains to be seen who will be driving it in 2025.
Here are five potential replacements for LaJoie at Spire Motorsports.
