Cam Taylor-Britt gives Xavier Worthy fuel for Week 2 matchup
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (BVM) – Kansas City Chiefs rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy received national attention in the NFL’s season opener against the Baltimore Ravens. The first-round pick out of Texas impressed with two touchdowns in Kansas City’s 27-20 victory.

But he did not impress everyone.
The Chiefs host the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2 and third-year cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt will likely go up against the speedy playmaker. When Taylor-Britt was asked about his upcoming matchup with Worthy, he was not worried.
“He can run straight,” Taylor-Britt told the media. “He can’t do too much else, that’s about it. If you can put your hands on him, you can stop his speed.”
Cincinnati’s pass defense was great in its Week 1 matchup with the New England Patriots, but a no-show offensive performance resulted in it getting upset 16-10. Taylor-Britt was targeted twice according to PFF, allowing one reception. The 24-year-old also had five tackles.
The Bengals cornerback has 22 career starts and has played well thus far, but he could be going up against one of the league’s budding star receivers.
The Chiefs have continued to have success since Tyreek Hill went to the Miami Dolphins, but it still feels like they have not been able to replace his production. It is hard to compare Worthy to the eight-time Pro Bowler after only one game, but his speed cannot be denied.
Hill received the same criticism about his game when he began to break out in Kansas City, but he has been able to expand his route tree exponentially over the years.
Worthy is not a complete player at 21 years old as he has room to grow in certain areas, but he will have a chance on Sunday to quiet Cincinnati’s secondary.
This game is already one of the biggest of the week with it being a rematch of two of the last three AFC championship matchups and now it has more fuel on the fire.
