Ranking the top 10 Pittsburgh Penguins players of all time

10. Kevin Stevens, LW (1987-94, 2000-01)

At a time when Wayne Gretzky was still the active standard in professional hockey, Stevens was able to out-score him — for one season, anyway.

Stevens’ 123 points in 1991 were a career-high and also beat out Gretzky (121) — making him only the third player to eclipse The Great one in the regular season. That year, Stevens finished second only to teammate Mario Lemieux’s 131 and was a Hart Trophy finalist.

Stevens won a pair of Stanley Cups and was an All-Star for three consecutive go-rounds (1990-92) with the Penguins. During that stretch, he also topped 40 goals four times in a row, including a career-high 55 in 1992.
